1U, HIGH DENSITY FRONT END ACCELERATES MOVE TO 12V VRM/POL POWER ARCHITECTURE

Coral Springs, Florida-This new front end supply from UNIPOWER Corporation is specifically designed to power 12-volt Intermediate Bus Architecture (IBA) systems. Maximum output current is 54.2 amperes, giving a total of 650 watts of power. This model, TPCM3000, is a version of UNIPOWER's popular PowerCassette® Series front ends. A 12V intermediate bus in a distributed power system allows economical use of non-isolated Voltage Regulator Modules (VRMs)/Point Of Load (POL) converters, which produce the required voltage for each load.

The TPCM3000 is packaged in a hot-swappable, ultra-compact 1U (1.6 inches) high, 5 inches wide and a short 10 inches deep package. This supply packs many operating features including universal 85 to 264 VAC input with power factor correction, Class B EMI input filter, LED status indicators, self-cooling by fans, an isolated 5V, 250 mA standby output, active current sharing provision, output ORing diode and no minimum load requirement. Control and monitoring features include enable and inhibit inputs, AC power fail and DC power good outputs, overtemperature warning output and current monitor output. There is an optional I²C output for monitoring performance by means of a serial data bus. Protection features include overload, overvoltage and overtemperature protection.

12V Front Ends

There is also an optional version of the TPCM3000 with a front-panel IEC input receptacle and on/off switch. This version has a reduced output current of 41.7 amperes. Additionally 1U-high, two- and three-unit compatible racks are available for the TPCM3000, ready for easy system integration.

The PowerCassette is covered by patents issued and pending.
