9,000 WATT, HOT-SWAP SYSTEM 

POWERS WIRELESS RF AMPLIFIERS

 

 

Coral Springs, Florida-UNIPOWER's new TWR SERIES Power Systems, designed specifically for powering RF amplifiers, consist of hot-swap modules in three- or four-unit 2RU-high racks. Each module produces 2250 watts at 28 to 32VDC, giving a total of 6,750 watts for a fully loaded three-module, 19-inch system or 9,000 watts for a loaded four-module, 23-inch system. With hot-swap capability the systems can be operated in 2+1 or 3+1 redundant modes, producing 4,500 or 6,750 watts, respectively.

 

 

There are five standard models, each factory set to 28, 29, 30, 31 or 32 volts output, but the output for each model can also be adjusted over the range of 26.5 to 33.5 volts. The modules have a power density of 10.6 watts per cubic inch and are 85% efficient.

 

 

Other features of these power modules include input power factor correction, Class B EMI input filter, single-wire active current sharing between the modules, and an output ORing diode. There are also front-panel AC and DC power good LEDs together with AC and DC power good logic outputs, an inhibit input, remote adjustment, thermal alarm and current monitoring outputs.

In addition, the modules have overload and short circuit protection, zero minimum load requirement and remote sensing. Each module is self-cooled by a single ball-bearing fan.

 

The TWR Power System is priced separately. Power modules are priced as low as $870 each. The three-unit, 19-inch rack or four-unit, 23-inch racks are ordered separately and are priced as low as $509. Delivery is four weeks ARO.
